SHAWNEE, Kan. -- Wednesday was the last day for people to make a charitable donation and have it count toward a tax deduction for 2008.People lined up around the block to drop off items at a Goodwill store in Shawnee.In addition to household items people donate, they can also deduct for miles driven for charity or tickets purchased for a charitable event or fundraiser.The organization has to be eligible for people to receive tax deductions for donations.For more information, read this page on the IRS Web site.
