Recycling your holiday tree is easy and good for the environment, says Matt Riggs, Outreach Coordinator for the MARC Solid Waste Management District in a news release. Chippings from recycled trees help plants and trees stay healthy, prevent erosion, stabilize lake and river banks and provide fish habitat.

There are approximately 25 to 30 million real holiday trees sold in the U.S. every year. In a national survey, 93 percent of consumers who used a real Christmas tree recycled it in some type of community program.
