  • Bank Customers Warned Of Phone Scam

    POSTED: 6:41 pm CST December 10, 2008
    UPDATED: 6:06 am CST December 11, 2008

Police warned Wednesday of a phone scam targeting bank customers in Cass County.

Authorities said customers are receiving phone calls that appear to be from the Community Bank of Raymore, saying their debit cards have been compromised.

The caller then asks for account information.

Several people have fallen for the identity thieves' scam, police said.

Financial institutions and other legitimate organizations will never call or e-mail customers asking for personal information, the Missouri Attorney General's office said in a news release Wednesday. Consumers can report phishing or other fraud at the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Hot Line at 1-800-392-8222 or online at ago.mo.gov.
