The owner of a Kansas City Laundromat helped police nab two suspects in a robbery on Friday night, police said.

Two armed men entered the Lost Sock near 35th and Main streets about 10 p.m. and demanded money, the Laundromat owner told police.

The owner, Cory Pietrus, said he fought the two men and grabbed the gun.

Pietrus told police he struck one of the suspects with the gun and pulled the trigger, thinking the gun was a fake. The gun fired, but no one was shot.

Pietrus was sitting on top one of the suspects when police arrived. "I said, 'You can take these couple of years in jail and open a couple of books, and try to change your life,' " Pietrus said. "He said, 'Yes sir, yes sir,' but at the same time, he was pleading with me to let him go."

The suspect who was struck with the gun was taken to the hospital. The second suspect ran away, but police took him into custody a short time later.
