CONCORDIA, Mo. -- Authorities have identified a headless, handless body found six months ago along Interstate 70, about 60 miles east of Kansas City. The victim is Monteze E. Murrell, 29, a Raytown, Mo., man reported missing to Raytown police on June 9, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department.Authorities identified him though a DNA profile developed from the body.Findings by the Jackson County Coroner's Office and evidence at the scene indicated that Murrell was killed elsewhere and that his body was dumped near Concordia in rural Lafayette County.Investigators said they matched a DNA profile made from Murrell's toothbrush to a sample from the body.A resident who was repairing a fence spotted the body. Investigators said the nude body was partially burned, with its hands and head cut off.Authorities haven't said what may have been the motive for his killing. Murrell had several drug convictions in Jackson County and had served time for drug trafficking, according to court records. No one has been charged in connection with his death.
