KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A shooting was reported near Ameristar Casino early Friday morning, police said.

One person was shot on Ameristar Drive, near the casino off Missouri Highway 210.

The 54-year-old victim of the shooting had just left the casino with a friend about 5:00 a.m. Their car was stopped short by a blue car with the paint falling off it and Missouri temporary tags, the man's friend told police. The friend, who was driving, said someone got out of the blue car, walked up to the passenger window of their SUV and fired one shot, hitting the victim in the face.

The two went back to the casino for help. The victim was in serious condition, but able to talk to emergency crews when medics arrived.
