KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A husband and wife running an ice cream truck were shot during a robbery attempt Friday afternoon in front of their young son.Their son was riding in the back of the truck when they were shot near East 20th Street and Elmwood Avenue, Kansas City police said. They suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and their son was not injured, police said.Three adults and a juvenile -- one of whom had a gun and fired the shots when the man refused to hand over his money -- ran away from the ice cream truck.
"You could see the blood running down his legs, and so she got on the phone called 911, and the 911 person said, 'Get him to sit down,' and we finally got him to sit down," said Carol Moore, a nearby resident. "And he was worried about his wife, and his wife was shot too."
