SPRING HILL, Kan. -- A fire in the woods turned into a police operation in Johnson County.

Someone called police Sunday night to report two men were burning something behind an apartment complex near North Jackson and West Davis streets in Spring Hill.

When police arrived, they said they thought they heard someone shooting at them. They took cover and called for backup from other police departments, officers said.

Police said they later determined there was no threat.

Two people who were in the woods at the time were questioned and released.
