OLATHE, Kan. -- An Olathe woman said she saw a U.S. postal carrier dump a bag of mail in a trash can.Pat Roberson said she was looking out her kitchen window when she "saw the mail truck stop next door at their garbage, and I thought that was very strange."She and her husband went to investigate."There in the trash was this bag, and (he) opened it up, and he said, 'It's mail,' and I said, 'No,'" Roberson said. "You never know, something important could have slipped through there."Most of the pieces of mail were advertisements, but one piece of mail appeared to be a mortgage statement, and another piece was mail Evelyn Shauers said she wanted to get from her church."This is something that I'm a part of, so yeah, I do receive the mail and want to receive the mail from them," said Shauers, who lives about a mile away from Roberson. "It's not junk mail."The postal carrier wasn't the same person who normally dropped off mail in her neighborhood, Roberson said.Late Thursday afternoon, two officials from the federal Office of Inspector General went to Roberson's home, interviewed her and took the bag of mail.
