More road construction will kick off Friday night on major Kansas City metropolitan area highways.

Starting at 7 p.m., the southbound lane of Interstate 35 will be shut down to just one lane from Plumm Road to 119th Street. The ramps on and off Interstate 435 will also be closed. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday.

In Wyandotte County, Seventh Street between Kansas Avenue and Interstate 70 will also be closed through the weekend. Detours will be marked in the area.

Drivers are asked to use caution when going though both construction zones.
