KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- More than a dozen people evacuated the Town Pavilion building downtown after someone sprayed pepper spray inside. Two young women got into a fight inside a Kentucky Fried Chicken/Pizza Hut restaurant in the building at 11th and Walnut streets, and one of them pulled out some pepper spray and used it on the other woman, according to people at the scene.Firefighters evacuated about 15 to 20 people from the first floor of the building.Renee Willis, a restaurant worker, was in the back kitchen area, but she and others were sickened by the pepper spray, he said.
"I did smell pepper spray, and when I came to the front, I did start coughing, and it was painful," Willis said. "It was super bad. I threw up about three times already."Medics treated the young women involved in the fight in ambulances at the scene and released them to police officers. There was no immediate word about whether prosecutors would file criminal charges against either of them.
