LEAVENWORTH, Kan. -- A 14-year-old boy used a rifle to rob three people, police said.

The robberies happened in an apartment building parking lot near Martin Luther King Drive and Limit Street.

Police were called, and when officers arrived, one of the victims recognized the teenager coming out of an apartment, according to authorities.

Officers found a rifle in the apartment from which he'd come, they said.

Police took the teenager into custody.

They were investigating if the teen was involved in a separate robbery in the area, police said.
