ROCK PORT, Mo. -- A northwest Missouri physical education teacher and coach has been accused of child molestation.

Atchison County authorities said Lee Rucker, of Tarkio, was arrested Sunday and charged with first-degree child molestation and sexual misconduct involving a child less than 14, both felonies. He was also charged with furnishing pornographic material to a minor, a misdemeanor.

His bond was set at $250,000 cash.

Rucker teaches physical education in the Tarkio R-1 School District, serves as athletic director and coaches girls' and boys' basketball at the middle school and high school levels.

Superintendent Linda Blum said Rucker has been employed by the district for two years. She said Rucker will remain on leave until the case is resolved.

"It's critical that there be support for the victims and their families because they're going through some trying times," said Prosecutor Dan Smith.

A KCTV5 News crew tried to reach Rucker Tuesday evening. No one came to the door at Rucker's home.
