Detective Testifies In Videotaped Sex Killing Case

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A detective testified Tuesday that a suburban Kansas City man on trial in connection with the videotaped slaying of a woman told police he was a sex addict and wanted to kill himself.Detective Chris Rapp testified in the trial of Richard Davis, 44, of Independence. Prosecutors focused on Davis' confession to crimes, while defense attorney Tom Jacquinot concentrated on statements that Davis made about being under pressure and "messed up."Davis faces 40 felony counts, including capital murder, kidnapping and rape in the May 2006 death of Marsha Spicer, 41, of Independence. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.Rapp also was on the witness stand all day Monday, with jurors watching hours of police interviews with Davis.
