  • Man Drowns At Parkville Birthday Party

Homeowner Finds Partygoer Drowned In Pool

    POSTED: 10:56 am CDT July 28, 2008
    UPDATED: 11:27 am CDT July 28, 2008

A Kansas City, Kan., man drowned at a birthday party in Parkville Saturday night.

Police said Aaron Ramirez, 26, of Kansas City, Kan., drowned in a swimming pool during the party at a home in Parkville.

There were about 30 people at the party until about 11:30 p.m. when the gathering broke up, officers said.

The homeowner told police he thought everyone had gone, but then noticed that a car was still parked in front of the house and began looking for the vehicle's owner.

He said the swimming pool was murky and the bottom was not visible. The owner searched the pool with a cleaning tool and that's when the victim was discovered. CPR was performed on the victim and 911 was called. But fire and EMS crews were not able to resuscitate him.

Police said Ramirez had come to the party with another guest.

The Platte County Sheriff's department said they believe this was an accidental drowning and there was nothing suspicious about it.
