GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. -- A man was shot and killed in a Grain Valley bar fight early Thursday morning, police said.Officers said two men got into a fight at the Whiskey Tango bar just after 3 a.m.Witnesses told police that one of the men pulled a gun and fired three rounds at the other man.Officers said when they arrived they found the victim -- Jesse Saldivar, 38, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa -- dead next to a pickup truck. Right away, the other man told them that he was the shooter and that he had unloaded the firearm he used and placed it on the hood of a car.
Grain Valley Police Chief Aaron Ambrose said, "Officers were contacted by who ended up to be the suspect, who put his hands up in the air and said, 'I'm the shooter.'"Ambrose said the man pointed to Saldivar, who was slumped over a vehicle in the parking lot. The man had the gun disassembled and had placed it on the car, Ambrose said.Saldivar was pronounced dead.The bar was closed at the time of the shooting.The shooting suspect was taken into police custody.Saldivar had been visiting family in the metro.
