KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A Good Samaritan stepped in when a man with a gun attacked a woman and her child in the parking lot of a grocery store Sunday evening.It happened at about 6 p.m. at the Apple Market at Independence and Monroe avenues.The man approached a 23-year-old woman as she was putting groceries into her car, police said.He pulled a gun and grabbed her purse and jewelry and tried to pull her 4-year-old child out of the car so he could steal the car, police said.The Good Samaritan saw what was happening, and even though the man turned the gun on him, the Good Samaritan fought him off and chased him away.Police were investigating and looking for the gunman.
