ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Floodwaters continued to crest along the Missouri River Tuesday, with minor to moderate flooding causing headaches and worry for some people. The wet weather has been especially tough for farmers this year. One man said last year's floods coupled with rain this year make it tough to make any money. In Andrew County, farmers like Mike Jennings said just this year he has had several weather catastrophes that are crippling his livelihood.During the weekend, microburst winds destroyed several sheds he and his father built decades ago. He said he is worried about the Nodaway River flooding more of his property and his crop."We lost a whole corn crop last year on account of the flood," Jennings said. "The back-to-back stuff is what's tough. A guy can usually stand one year of it, but two years in a row gets kind of rough."Several farmers said they hoped the rain would stop so they could recover. Otherwise the farming industry could take a hit they can't bounce back from.
