KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A man is in the hospital in critical condition Monday morning after wrecking his all-terrain vehicle in the northland.

The 40-year-old man was riding on a trail near Northeast Barry Road and North Indiana Avenue on Sunday evening. A woman drove by and saw the man crash and roll the ATV, landing in a bed of rocks at the bottom of a hill. The woman stopped to help and called 911.

The man was not wearing a helmet.

The man was flown by air ambulance from Liberty Hospital to KU Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition with a head injury.
