An elementary school teacher in the Liberty school district has been accused of forging a prescription for pain medication, according to prosecutors.

Kerri L. Wisniewski, 34, of Liberty, was accused of fraudulently obtaining a prescription for Ultram, a non-narcotic pain reliever, according to a news release from Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric G. Zahnd.

Prosecutors charged Wisniewski with forgery Tuesday after an investigation by the Liberty and Parkville, Mo., police departments, Zahnd said in the news release.

The school district Web site lists Wisniewski as a health teacher at Ridgeview Elementary School, according to the news release.

There was no evidence to suggest that Wisniewski had given or sold any of the pain medicine to any other person, Zahnd said in the news release.

Wisniewski filled or tried to fill several altered or forged prescriptions in the Liberty area in 2007 and has been barred from obtaining prescriptions at several Liberty-area pharmacies for presenting altered or forged prescriptions, according to the news release.

Prosecutors filed the forgery charge after Wisniewski presented a prescription re-written on a script from the doctor's office at a pharmacy in September, according to the news release.

If convicted, she could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison. Her bond was set at $5,000.
