Analysts: Fewer Drivers Hitting Roads
Gas Prices Range From $3.68 To $3.78 A Gallon In Kansas City
As gas prices rise, driving appears to be decreasing.More and more people stayed home during the holiday weekend. Analysts said it was the steepest drop in driving since 1942.The March numbers were just coming in Tuesday morning, and Americans drove 4 percent fewer highway miles in March compared to last year. That's in large part because oil prices soared past $135 a barrel for the first time.In the metro for regular unleaded, the most expensive gas we found was in Basehor, Kan., at $3.78 cents a gallon. The cheapest was on Kansas City's southeast side at $3.68 a gallon.Prices are 20 percent higher then they were last year.
