NEAR LAWSON, Mo. -- An 11-year-old boy was in critical condition Saturday after being shot.

It happened Friday outside a house just north of Lawson.

Ray County deputies didn't release many details but said it appeared as though the shooting was accidental.

Investigators handled a rifle and evidence bags outside the house.

The 11-year-old was flown to Children's Mercy hospital by helicopter in critical condition.

Deputies wouldn't say who, if anyone, was home with the child at the time or who actually pulled the trigger.
