JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. -- A man whose sister was kidnapped and killed more than 30 years ago is now accused of kidnapping and attempting to kill his wife.John David Wilson, 44, appeared in court Thursday. He is being held on $500,000 bond after police said he attacked his wife on May 3.This was the second time in less than a month that Wilson was accused of hurting his wife.Wilson was arrested in April on domestic violence charges. He was released on the April charges on the condition that he have no contact with her or her children, but she said he showed up at her home in Mission and attacked her.
According to court documents, she was treated for a fractured rib, a skull fracture and marks to her face and arms.Wilson is the brother of Lizabeth Wilson, the 13-year-old Prairie Village girl who was kidnapped and killed in the 1970s as the two were walking home from the city swimming pool.Earlier this year, John Henry Horton, a janitor at a nearby school at the time of the slaying, was convicted of her murder.John Wilson testified against Horton in the trial in Johnson County. For that reason, the county handed the case against Wilson over to a Wyandotte County prosecutor.Wilson is charged with kidnapping, criminal sodomy, attempted arson and attempted murder. A bond motion hearing has been set for next Thursday and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 26.
