INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- A jury in Independence is deliberating in the murder trial of Eddie George, the teen accused of killing his friend's mother.George briefly took the stand on Thursday to say he would not testify.Prosecutors said George killed Pamela Marquez because his best friend, Taylor Marquez, asked him to help kill his parents in July 2006.Taylor Marquez's adopted father, Joe Marquez, was stabbed that night, but survived. In closing arguments Thursday, the prosecution said the evidence shows that George killed Pamela Marquez with steak knives, but his attorneys said the state did not prove it was George's knife that killed her.If George is found guilty, he faces a maximum penalty of life in prison without the chance of parole.
