LEAVENWORTH, Kan. -- Officers at Fort Leavenworth had a special visitor Friday.A room full of officers gathered around for a one-hour talk by Kansas City Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards. He spoke to the leadership development class at Fort Leavenworth. They heard great analogies between leading an army and leading a team, and powerful words about agility, long-range planning and split-second decision making.Edwards was comfortable around the fatigues and combat boots. He grew up as an Army brat. His first job as a boy was shining boots for soldiers for a quarter.
"Whatever you do in life, when you're put in that position to set the example, don’t take it lightly," Edwards said. "I think we do that. I think sometimes we fail to realize the positions that we're in. There's a lot of people looking at you, and you need to make a difference in your life, because basically, that's why you're here."He passed on an inspirational message, "Anything you do in the dark will some day come into light."
