Police Identify Man Killed By Officer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City police have identified a man shot and killed by an officer Thursday.They identified the shooting victim as Terry D. Davis, 26, of Kansas City.The officer shot him near East 26th Street and Jackson Avenue.It happened after he jumped out of a stolen car that police tried to pull over, officers said."(The passenger) came out from behind some houses into a vacant lot into the 2600 block of Jackson, where an officer encountered him there," said Capt. Rich Lockhart, of the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department. "The individual pointed a gun at the officer. The officer shot the man and killed him after he pointed the gun at him. As the man fell, he threw the gun over a fence nearby. We have since located that gun, and it is in our custody."After the shooting, investigators interviewed officers and witnesses at the scene.Detectives questioned the officer who shot Davis.Officers took the driver of the stolen car into custody near East 19th Street and Jackson Avenue, police said.
