Police Serving Warrant Find Alleged Pot-Growing Operation

Police came to a home in the Northland Thursday night to take a man into a custody in connection with a stolen car, but ended up arresting several people in a drug bust.

Clay County narcotics officers worked overnight bagging and tagging evidence pulled out of the home in the 3300 block of North Troost.

Officers said they found a marijuana-growing operation in the house.

The people inside did not let the officers in when they arrived with an arrest warrant for the man about the car, so police waited for a search warrant, police said.

During the wait, officers said they spotted smoke and fire coming out of the house.

Investigators said three people inside tried to set the home on fire, but instead smoked themselves out of the house.

Charges are expected to be filed on Friday, police said.
