Firefighters Extinguish Sprint Center Blaze

Small Fire Ignites In Utility Room

UPDATED: 11:09 am CDT March 11, 2008

A small fire was reported in a utility room on the seventh floor at the Sprint Center early Tuesday morning.

Several fire trucks were sent to the arena just after 6 a.m.

"It appears to have started from a heating element that may have dropped down on to a roofing material that was in place, and was burning that way. But everything is out. There is no problem with the arena. It will be up and running," said Deputy Chief Paul Barardi.

The fire was quickly put out and firefighters worked to ventilate the building.

No injuries were reported.
