OLATHE, Kan. -- Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline asked a judge to give a grand jury more time to investigate Planned Parenthood's Overland Park clinic.Kline said Planned Parenthood has not handed over all records the grand jury is seeking. He said that has delayed the jurors from working on the case. The grand jury is set to end its investigation in mid-March. Kline said the 15 jurors will need more time after they get the records they need. The law requires that information that would identify the patient be removed from those records, but Kline wants the birth date of the patient so he can decide if laws have been broken. At the end of Friday's hearing, lawyers for Planned Parenthood agreed to give the grand jury specific records it has recently sought. But the lawyers said they will not provide all the records the grand jury asked for in its original subpoena in January. The judge ruled that the grand jury, which reconvenes on Feb. 20, will look at the records. If it is not satisfied, another hearing will be scheduled.
