LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- Authorities charged a woman in connection with a bank robbery in Lee's Summit, Mo., on Wednesday.FBI Agent Jeff Lanza identified the woman as Linda Jo Spooner, 42, of Greenwood, Mo.He didn't specifically say what charge or charges were filed against her.Lee's Summit police took Spooner into custody after an observant person in the area of the Union Bank at 3700 S.W. Cheddington Drive reported suspicious activity to an officer shortly before 9 a.m.The officer went to the area and called for backup and police surrounded the bank.When the suspect hurriedly left the bank carrying a duffel bag, police quickly apprehended her, they said.Officers then confirmed that she had just robbed the bank at gunpoint, and FBI agents were called to help police investigate the robbery, according to investigators.Authorities were trying to determine whether the robbery was related to one on Tuesday night in Olathe, Kan.A strip mall in that city was evacuated after a woman robbed a bank with a box of chocolate.The woman, carrying flowers and a box of candy, walked up to a teller at the Capitol Federal Bank in the SuperTarget store at West 119th Street and Blackbob Road, police said.She told the teller the box contained an explosive and demanded money.The woman got away with an undisclosed amount of money but left the box behind.After X-raying the package, the bomb squad determined the box was filled with candy and harmless wires.
