KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- School board members said Friday that no decision has been made, despite speculation that Anthony Amato is out as the Kansas City, Mo., school superintendent.School board member Duane Kelly said Amato's fate as superintendent is "undecided."Kelly said there is no question that Amato has ruffled some feathers on the board. "No matter what you do, somebody's not going to like it," he said.Amato received a less-than-stellar performance review last summer. Recently there were also allegations that he called certain board members, including two women, derogatory names.Kelly said he himself was the target of a negative comment by the superintendent. But he said he has not yet made up his mind as to whether Amato should go.Kelly acknowledged that the school board has talked about Dr. John Martin as a possible replacement for Amato.Martin is currently an administrator with the St. Louis School District and is a former superintendent with the Grandview School District. He graduated from Sumner High School in Kansas City, Kan.A school board meeting scheduled for Friday night at district headquarters was canceled with no explanation.
