KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A local mother who gave birth in a McDonald's bathroom pleaded not guilty to assault charges.Ashley Woods pleaded not guilty Monday to assault charges.Prosecutors said Ashley Woods, 20, delivered a baby boy in a toilet at the fast-food restaurant near West 37th and Broadway streets in August and then tried to flush the newborn three times.The infant survived.Woods' grandmother told KCTV5 the accusations are unfair because Ashley didn't know she was pregnant.
