KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The mortgage-fraud case against former Jackson County Executive Katheryn Shields got underway in federal court Monday.Shields, her husband and two other people face charges of conspiracy and wire fraud in the proposed $1.2 million sale of Shields home.
Prosecutors said the home was actually worth about $800,000.
