KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The woman accused of trying to flush her newborn baby down a toilet at McDonald's has turned herself in to authorities.Prosecutors charged Ashley Woods, 20, who gave birth in August in a McDonald's toilet, with assault.Woods told medics she didn't know she was pregnant and didn't realize she'd given birth in the toilet at the Midtown restaurant where she worked.She flushed the toilet three times.The newborn boy survived.Woods was booked late Thursday night and may face a judge on Friday.In a recent interview, Woods' grandmother defended her granddaughter, saying no one knew she was pregnant and now that the child has been born, her granddaughter loves him.The baby is staying with relatives.
