ARCHIE, Mo. -- A man who serves as police commissioner, alderman and mayor pro-tem in Peculiar, Mo., was accused of getting drunk and plowing into three people at a tractor pull Saturday.Police arrested Mark Wansing, 41, on three counts of second-degree assault in connection with injuring a 5-year-old girl, her 32-year-old mother and a 19-year-old man.Investigators told KCTV5 News that Wansing's blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit."Well, I've been authorized not to make any comments at this time," Wansing told KCTV5 News.
He was driving someone else's truck, helping to get it ready for the event, Archie police said.Somehow, he lost control and slammed the truck into another vehicle, which pinned the man under a tractor and injured the little girl and her mother, according to investigators."I watched the truck bounce up and down, and the truck shut off and the announcers all started screaming for emergency help and the ambulances showed up and LifeFlight showed up," said Trey Schoor, a witness.None of the injuries were life-threatening, but emergency responders flew the teenager to a hospital by helicopter.A spokesman for the city of Peculiar told KCTV5 News that no action would be taken against Wansing until the city attorney finished reviewing the case.
