LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- Workers were evacuated from Polytainers, Inc. after a suspicious package was found in the break room.The bomb squad, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, National Guardsmen, Lee's Summit police, and Missouri Highway Patrol were all called to the scene in Lee's Summit to help determine what was in the package.Workers found a "suspicious plastic container" in the break room on Wednesday morning. The container is one made at the plant, but something about it caused management to have the building evacuated.Workers were moved to the Eastglen movie theaters across the road from the manufacturing plant. They were eventually dismissed when it was determined a day of production was lost.
Investigators later determined the package was not dangerous.Polytainers, Inc. is a manufacturer of plastic containers for food and dairy products and is located at Victoria and Northeast Douglas streets in Lee's Summit.The National Guard members decided to use the opportunity as a training exercise.
