Reed Timmer from the Discovery Channel’s "Stormchasers" will be the special guest at a storm spotter training event presented by the Gladstone Emergency Management and the National Weather Service.

The event is from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 29 at the Gladstone Community Center at 6901 N. Holmes Road in Gladstone.

Reed has made several television appearances on CNN with Wolf Blitzer and Paula Zahn and on "Good Morning America" with Dianne Sawyer. He's also been on the following television shows -- "The Leeza Gibbons Show," "Real TV," and "World's Most Amazing Videos."

Reed graduated with a bachelor’s degree in meteorology in 2002, a master's degree in 2005 and is currently working on his doctorate in meteorology at the University of Oklahoma.
