By now you're probably familiar with the upcoming switch from regular TV to digital television, also called DTV.

If you have cable, satellite or a digital convertor box, you should be fine. But what if you're not sure?

First of all, don't panic if you haven't taken steps to convert your TV. You have until mid-February of 2009.

But KCTV5 be conducting testing Tuesday so you'll know whether you need to do anything at all.

Keep in mind, televisions bought up until the past year or so are analog. The newer ones have a built-in digital tuner. If yours is analog, you'll need to buy a converter box or a new TV, or subscribe to cable or satellite. The boxes run between $50 and $70, but government coupons for $40 off are available. (Click here to apply for a coupon.)

You'll want to tune in Tuesday. KCTV5 is going to do a test run of the digital conversion in most of the day's newscasts.

Watch at noon, 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., and you'll actually see one of our anchors pull the plug on our analog signal for about a minute. You'll get instructions on how to tell if you are all set or if you need to do something before February to be ready.

Again, watch Tuesday for KCTV5's DTV test in all newscasts on KCTV5 starting at noon.
