Summary:
Deffenbaugh is looking for a Supervisor to manage/supervise 15-30 Drivers and Helpers in the Residential department. The employee in this role will be developed by progressing through a 30-week program of defined management development experience with exposure to Dispatch, specific Operations roles such as Driver/Helper, Routing, HR Practices, Safety and other operations and enterprise roles.

Essential Functions:

This full-time position will ultimately be responsible for:
• Interviewing, hiring, scheduling, performance management, training, discipline, and all aspects of logistics.
• Organizes and schedules all necessary resources required to accomplish activities. Coordinates daily operational needs with team.
• Plans, distributes, monitors, and follows-up daily route assignments to ensure customers are serviced per company standards and agreements.
• Monitors driver and laborer time and attendance, minimizing overtime and ensuring that drivers do not exceed limits established by regulatory agencies (e.g., 60 hour rule).
• Reviews weekly demand / volume for routes, determines potential gains from re-routing, and recommends re-routes to the routing specialist.
• Sets and monitors productivity, service, and safety targets for each route and driver.
• Acquires and coordinates temporary workers assigned to assist drivers on routes.
• Ensures that drivers comply with physicals, drug or alcohol tests, and training required by regulatory agencies.
• Establishes and maintains a clean, safe work environment in compliance with Company/Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
• Ensures set-up errors and missed pickups are reported and resolved.
• Resolves unusual or nonscheduled service requests, equipment breakdowns, and schedule changes.
• Plans routes to provide the most efficient service to customers while also managing lab hours and disposal tons.
• Performs administrative activities including reviewing and processing route sheets, time sheets or other work time documents.
• Conducts employee observations and evaluations to ensure safety and productivity procedures are being following.
• Responds to driver reports of problem pickups such as unsafe conditions or hazardous waste.
• Provides weekly/ monthly reports to management, payroll, customer billing, and business partners.
• Responds effectively and courteously to escalated customer service complaints, requests or inquires.
• On occasion, may need to pick up a route or help drive.

Requirements:
• 5+ years as a Supervisor/ Manager.
• Trucking or logistics company background.
• High energy willing to get-the-job-done attitude.
• Analytical skills
• Strong communication, organization, leadership and delegation skills.
• Ability to perform all the essential functions of this job.
• Class A or B CDL preferred.

Education/Experience:
Associates Degree. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Training & Development or related areas of study, preferred. Or relevant work experience (5+ years).

Commercial Front Load Driver

Job Description:

Summary:
Drives and picks up commercial trash with Front Load truck. The Driver will drive a packer truck equipped with hydraulic lifting device to collect garbage and or recyclable materials.

Essential Functions:

This position is a Commercial Front Load Trash Truck driver. The person will drive and operate the truck while picking up trash from local business. Drives garbage truck on designated routes within municipality to pick up and load garbage and recyclable materials onto truck. Transports load to disposal area. Assists in unloading garbage or dumps garbage from truck. Records mileage, house customer count and fuel consumption. Will also utilize our Routeware computer system in each truck for GPS, missed houses, and daily route check. All Drivers MUST assist in the safe operation of the truck this includes: evaluation of materials left for collection, determination of whether those materials included any hazardous materials, decision making on what materials safely could be places in the truck for transport, and assist in the safety of each employee.

Roll-Off Driver

Essential Functions:

This full-time position is a very skilled position with lots of different responsibilities:
• Driving position will drive each type of vehicle at Deffenbaugh including Roll-off, Residential Rear-load, Recycle, JOTS, Container and Front Load Vehicle.
• Repairs and maintenance duties
• Responding to emergency situations
• Customer service with missed or extra routes
• Assisting delivery/ pick up of Deffenbaugh items at any events- Speedway, American Royal, etc
• Assisting with any delivery/ pick up for the Commercial department
• Dispatching drivers and optimizing routes
• Basically, jack of all trades, in assisting in the VP of Industrial Operations needs
