Johnson County Health Department officials said they are expecting big crowds again for a free H1N1 clinic, one of two held in the Kansas City metro Monday.

On Saturday, some showed up five hours early in Mission for a free H1N1 clinic. Johnson County officials already had people waiting for flu shots before sunrise on Monday.

The Leavenworth County Health Department is also holding an H1N1 vaccine clinic Monday.

Health Department officials said they have nearly 800 doses of the vaccine to give out Monday after 1,776 were given out on Saturday to crowds that stretched around the building and parking lot.

An independent panel will look at the H1N1 vaccine beginning this week to look at the safety of the vaccines.

Johnson County Health Department officials said they were surprised by Saturday's big turnout.

Monday's clinic runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. or while supplies last. The vaccine is only open to Johnson County residents. The vaccine is also limited to those in high-risk categories like pregnant women, people who live or work with children, health care workers and kids ages 6 months to 4 years old.

Pregnant women and kids 6 months to 2 years old will get an vaccine shot. Others will receive the nasal spray vaccine.

The Leavenworth H1N1 vaccine clinic is being held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The clinic is also open to those in high-risk categories like pregnant women, people who live or work with children, health care workers, children from ages 6 months to 5 years old and children from ages 5 to 18 with underlying health conditions.

The clinic is being held at the Leavenworth County Health Department offices, 500 Eisenhower Road.
