Professor Wrestling: 'No Mercy' Results!

'Smackdown!' Stars Take Center Stage

POSTED: 12:58 am CDT October 1, 2004

Listen up! Class is in session!

This Sunday it was "Smackdown!" brand with the "No Mercy" pay-per-view, live from Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, N.J. How did I do on my Friday predictions? Read 'em and weep kids!

Eddie Guerrero vs. Luther Reigns
What will happen: Eddie hits Frog Splash. Eddie wins. Eddie dances.

What did happen: Eddie grabbed a foreign object, hid it in his boot, then nailed Luther with it for the win. What did Eddie do to sink from champ to curtain jerker in such a short time?

Billy Kidman vs. Paul London
What will happen: Kidman will cheat and steal one from London. Kidman is such a snot, that he makes a halfway decent heel.

What did happen: Kidman beat London with a Shooting Star Press. When medics attended to the knocked-out London, Billy hit 'em with another one. Kidman is much better as a bad guy than a babyface. Hopefully this angle gives him a bit of momentum.

Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree vs. Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio for the WWE Tag Team Championship
What will happen Dupree gets a shady pinfall on RVD.

What did happen: Check that: Suzuki got the win here, pinning Mysterio by grabbing the ropes. At any rate, the bad guys keep belts. Technically, I got this one right.

Kurt Angle vs. The Big Show
What will happen: To bring back Paul Wight to lose is kind of silly. We should be treated to a big surprise (remember the Brock Lesnar/Show ring collapse?), with Big Show sneaking past Angle. We won't get the big spot, but I say Show still wins it somehow.

What did happen: Big Show won it, by choke-slamming your Olympic hero from the top rope.

John Cena vs. Booker T for the U.S. Championship
What will happen: The Doctor of Thuganomics scores the clean win, and takes back the gold.

What did happen: Cena hit Mr. T with a FU out of nowhere and scored the clean pin.

The Undertaker vs. John Bradshaw Layfield for the WWE Title in a Last Ride match
What will happen: The loser here exits the building in a hearse. I say JBL pulls out another brilliant heel trick (Heidenriech maybe?) and stuffs the Dead Man for the win.

What did happen: Heidenreich and Paul Heyman interfered (God, I'm good), as Paulie's poem-reading monster popped out of the back of the hearse, and jumped UT with an ether-soaked cloth. While UT tried to make a comeback, Heidenreich and JBL were too much for him. JBL retained the belt.

Let's see, six signature matches ... and six correct predictions from yours truly! The slump is over, kids ... I'm the California Angels of prognosticators! The Prof. is on top once again! Enough exclamation points for ya?!!

Class dismissed!
