LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- A local woman has found a way to make the Internet work for her as she saves money on her household budget. After her kids were born, Amy Morasch knew she wanted to find a way to stay at home with her little ones."We went down to one income, so I needed to cut the budget," the Lee's Summit mom said.So Morasch turned to the Internet during her kids' nap time and found a new hobby."Couponing is so addictive," she said. "It's just so much fun."Morasch said as deal after deal fell into her lap she was compelled to e-mail her "finds" to friends and family."People are probably sick of seeing e-mails from me," she said. "So I started a blog so people could look (for) themselves."Her blog site is thriftyiscool.blogspot.com. It's free and no registration is required."I earn no income from it," Morasch said. The Web site has everything from tips on living on less -- like how to make your own dish detergent -- to current Kansas City-area deals. Morasch even walks people through her own personal shopping trips."This is what I bought yesterday at CVS and made $4 on it," she said.Between coupons and money back offers she was paid to shop.In Morasch's basement, there is a shelf filled with shampoos and soaps. There is enough there to easily supply her family and then some."Whatever we don't use, I donate to charity -- usually at Christmas," she said.Morasch said she almost never spends money on toiletries and her grocery bill amazes most people."We buy groceries for about $47 a week for a family of four," she said. One of the best ways to be alerted to her bargains is to follow her on Twitter and never miss a deal.
