Several establishments throughout the Kansas City area plan New Year's Eve parties.

  • KC Live! at the Kansas City Power & Light District in downtown Kansas City, Mo., plans KC Live! On the Red Carpet Bash. Admission is free. They'll be four bands, laser light shows and other festivities. Most of the bars and restaurants in the district also plan New Year's Eve parties.
  • At Union Station in Kansas City, Mo., the Young Friends of Union Station plan an event entitled, "Next Stop: 2008" New Year's celebration. It starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person, $100 per person for reserved seating or $110 per person for VIPs. The price includes three drinks on the house, free appetizers, music by the KC All-Stars, a live disc jockey and dancing and a champagne toast at midnight.
  • The Hotel Phillips, at 106 W. 12th Street, plans a party called "Go Out With a Bang." Two seatings are included for the celebration and attendees can enjoy an array of tapas, artesan cheeses, antipasto, and dessert fondue. The price is $49.99 per person.
  • The Martini Corner's New Year's Eve Extravaganza costs $75 and includes access to all five Martini Corner Bars -- Velvet Dog, Tower Tavern, The Drop, Sol Cantina, Empire Room -- and unlimited domestic beer, house wine and wells. VIP and reserved seating is available. It starts at 8:30 p.m. and ends at 1:30 a.m.
  • Another option is the New Year's Eve "Grand" package at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. The evening will include two tickets to the New Year's bash at the Kansas City Convention Center's brand new Grand Ballroom and an evening at the Marriott. Rates start at $279. The evening includes a cocktail reception with dinner and entertainment by Sound of the Supremes and Atlantic Express. Accommodations include breakfast for two and late check-out. For a quite evening, book the hotel's New Year's Eve Silver Package, and instead of party tickets, receive champagne for in-room toasting.
