OLATHE, Kan. -- A meeting Tuesday night was one of a series of meetings put on by the Olathe School District to warn parents of the district's financial situation and get ideas about what the district can do in the coming school year."It really worries me, because all of us moved to Olathe for the great schools," parent Stacey Coad said.Coad was just one of the parents in the meeting trying to figure out how to save money, without affecting education."Those teachers, if you raise those class sizes, the teachers get more burned out, more work and it just makes them exhausted," Coad said.Losing teachers is just one of the possible outcomes. Olathe schools lost nearly $14 million in state funding and could be in line to lose $9 million more. It's money needed for everything from teachers to books to programs to perks to even sports -- money parents don't want to lose."Part of what Johnson County is all about is the perks and extras," Kris Brentano said. "That's why we're at this school and at this district."There will be at least one more meeting on this topic is Feb. 25 Mid-America Nazarene University in Hager Lecture Hall.
