KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A former suburban Kansas City elementary school counselor has been charged with having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy.

Toni R. Warren was charged Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court with statutory sodomy, second-degree child molestation and providing pornography to a minor.

The pornography charge stems from allegations that she e-mailed three photographs of her genitalia to the boy.

A spokesman for the Hickman Mills School District said the 35-year-old Lee's Summit woman resigned her counseling job in February -- two days after school officials learned of the allegations.

"Every parent has a more than reasonable expectation to think they are sending their child into a safe environment. And if this allegation indeed is true, it is troubling," said John Baccala, Hickman Mills School District spokesman.

Court records allege that Warren met the boy in September when he stopped at Truman Elementary School after his classes to catch a ride to basketball practice.

The boy told police they started by texting each other, and that eventually, she suggested they meet somewhere. By December, he told them, they had met twice at a house in a Midtown neighborhood, where kissing soon progressed into further sexual activity. He even reported that one of their kissing encounters occurred at the school in the counselor's office.

Court documents said the boy reported that Warren repeatedly told him not to tell anyone because she could lose her job.

A Hickman Mills School District spokesman said officials put Warren on paid leave the moment the student reported it in February, and two days later, Warren resigned.

Police also indicate in the court filing that Warren e-mailed the victim three pictures of her genitals, hence the pornography charge.

The teen victim told police he since stopped talking to Warren, because he had a relationship with a girl his own age that was getting more serious.
