Nine dogs in the metro are now looking for new homes.

The dogs are a few of the 85 that were rescued from puppy mills and poor conditions across Kansas. They are now at Animal Haven on 67th Street near Interstate 35 in Merriam.

Shelter officials said they are in various health conditions. Some have dental problems, others have matted hair. Most are socially OK, they said.

Shelter workers are cleaning up the dogs now and helping them recover. The dogs will be available for adoption by the middle of next week.

Call Animal Haven at 913-432-7548 for more information about adopting any of the dogs.
