MISSION, Kan. -- Someone stole a trailer and supplies from The Pet Connection Inc., on Wednesday, a spokesman for the animal shelter said. The Pet Connection Inc., a no-kill, nonprofit, cageless animal shelter in Mission, had collected supplies to build eight new dog and cat rooms, Director of Operations Jason Huff said.Workers at the shelter were planning to building the rooms over the Thanksgiving holiday. The replacement cost of the materials and trailer is $4,000, Huff said.
Huff said the additional space at the shelter would let The Pet Connection Inc. rescue 15-40 additional pets each month. He said that almost 70 percent of the rescued dogs at their facility come from other area shelters where they were scheduled to be euthanized because of a lack of space to keep them. He added that their shelter has to turn away about 100 animals each month.Huff said the organization would appreciate donations to replace the materials. If you can help, visit its Web site at thepetconnection.net or call 913-671-PETS.
