KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man was gunned down near a local park in 2005 and the killer has never been found. There are always people using drugs, drinking, sleeping and just hanging out, police said. But they haven't found anyone willing to step forward with information about what happened on Sept. 9, 2005, when Reginold Rivers was gunned down across the street from the park full of witnesses.Telia Dunn, the victim's sister, said, "People saw this happen and had no remorse. No one felt like they needed to come forward. Life doesn't mean anything."It was around 8:35 p.m. when Rivers was sitting with another man on top of the bridge overlooking Interstate 35, police said. A third man walked up and shot Rivers at point-blank range and then ran away.
Tywana Watts, Rivers' sister, called her brother's mobile phone just moments after the shooting. "They answered the cell phone," she said. "I said, 'I need to speak to my brother,' and they said, 'Your brother just got shot. He's dead.'"Watts said her brother was robbed. His money, his phone and his apartment keys were taken. As Rivers lay dying in the street, his apartment was burglarized.Police said they have a good idea who was responsible for Rivers' death, but because no eye witness has come forward, the case has stalled. If you have information that could help police solve the case, call the Crime Stoppers TIPS Hot Line at 816-474-TIPS.
