Franklin had a side business selling shoes. She got a call to meet a man who claimed he was interested in buying some shoes, police said. Franklin and a friend showed up and were talking with two men when two others approached her car from behind.Police said Franklin must have seen them pull a gun, because she hit the gas and was driving away when one man fired. The shot hit Franklin in the side and killed her.The would-be robbers ran away empty-handed, police said.Police believe all four men were working together.Witnesses have been able to give investigators information, but nothing that has made it possible for police to catch the shooter. If you have any information about the case or remember seeing something that day, call the Homicide Department at 816-234-5043.
