NCAA Game Summary - Nebraska At Kansas State

(Sports Network) - Joe Ganz totaled four touchdowns to lead the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a convincing, 56-28 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats in a Big 12 matchup at Snyder Stadium.

Ganz threw for 270 yards and two scores for Nebraska (7-4, 4-3 Big12), while also rushing for 95 yards and two more touchdowns. Roy Helu Jr. added 75 yards and two TDs on the ground.

Josh Freeman threw for 114 yards and one score for KSU (4-7, 1-6), while Ernie Pierce hauled in four passes for 94 yards and one touchdown.

Courtney Herndon returned an interception 57 yards to give the Wildcats an early 7-0 lead.

The Cornhuskers responded with a one-yard touchdown plunge by Roy Helu Jr, and followed that score with a 37-yard touchdown scamper by Quentin Castille.

Seconds in the second frame KSU evened the score at 14-14 when Freeman connected with Pierce for a 63-yard scoring strike.

Nebraska took control from there, as the Cornhuskers scored three straight times to close out the first half. Helu Jr. found the end zone on a 24-yard touchdown run, which was followed by a five-yard touchdown pass from Ganz to Todd Peterson.

In the final seconds of the second quarter, the Huskers pushed their lead to 35-14 with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Ganz to Mike McNeill.

Late in the third quarter Carson Coffman plunged into the end zone from one yard out, cutting KSU's deficit to 35-21.

However, seconds into the final frame the Huskers responded with a 25-yard touchdown run by Ganz.

On the ensuing kick off, Brandon Banks return the kick 98 yards to keep the Wildcats within 14 points.

However, the Cornhuskers finished KSU with a 14-yard TD run by Ganz, followed by a 31-yard touchdown scamper by Marcus Mendoza.
